2008 Southeastern Workkeys Conference

The conference dates are January 23-25th

Place: Chattanooga, Tennessee

The WorkKeys credential is in alignment with the EEDA expectations. And the Workplace Readiness Credential has been adopted by our governor. ACT, developer of KeyTrain and WorkKeys, has  aligned the WorkKeys competencies with our state math and English standards.

The credential will benefit 75% - 80% of our students.  I am sure you know it is a common requirement to obtain a job interview for students in CTE programs with plans to transition into the workplace. Also, consider most 2-year college bound students (over 75% of them) will attend work and school. Adult Education has the WIN tutorial software across the state. STC-Berkeley County has the internet KeyTrain software, which was developed by ACT.

SCACTE Fall Leadership Training

September 29, 2007 10:00 am At Irmo High School.

The SCACTE Fall Leadership Training is an opportunity to get all of the ommittees together to discuss and plan the Program of Work for the year. During this meeting the committees will also present their program of work.

Each committee should have the committee chair of the corresponding committee from each division as a member.  For example, the chair of the division finance committee will serve on the SCACTE finance committee. We will need a count of the attendees to the Fall Leadership training so that we may plan for space and refreshments.

Please send confirmation of the number attending from your division to:

 Mike Parris 864-355-7400.
