...a message from our President!![]() Greetings fellow CTE Educators,
Normally, with a communication of this kind, I would say something like “hope it is going well in 2020.” I do hope your school year is off to a good start under the circumstances, but when I say 2020, I almost want to duck, for fear something would be hurled my way, because of all the challenges 2020 has brought us personally and professionally. We all are absolutely in unprecedented times and trying to educate our students the best we can in the midst of a Pandemic, like we have not seen in our lifetime. I have said way too many times already this school year “I have more questions than answers, because of this virus.” So, what do we do? Well, we do like good educators have always done, no matter what obstacles they have faced. We need to lean on each other, support one another by sharing successful ideas given the challenges COVID-19 has brought our way, then monitor and adjust to our new normal. Now, more than any time before in history, is a great time to be a part of our professional organizations and I cannot think of a better organization to be a part of than SCACTE. We can all garner support and ideas from fellow SCACTE members, Region 2 ACTE members or ACTE members nation-wide and do not forget with your dues, comes the $1 Million Liability Plan. One thing for sure is that we are all in the “same boat,” we all are like first year educators, because we are having to educate our students in ways we never have before. I am certain that being from the land of the free and the home of the brave, that we will all persevere and find a way to come out on the other side of these trying times better than we were before by turning a negative into positives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our SCACTE Executive Director, Ray Boland, for his hard work and dedication towards our organization. Thanks also to his wife, Marcelle Boland, and all the Committee Chairpersons for the vital role they play in the success of SCACTE. If I can provide any information regarding SCACTE or anything with CTE in general please e-mail me at rodney.miller@lcsd.k12.sc.us. I consider it an honor and privilege to serve as the SCACTE President for the 2020-2021 school year and would be glad to assist you in any way possible. Sincerely, Rodney K. Miller, SCACTE President 2020-2021 |
